This was a huge disappointment. Vigilante justice, corrupt cops, a bad guy delivered to them on a silver platter (absolutely no effort was put into searching for him; he was delivered by a neighbouring gang) and slaughtered without any misgivings even by the least corrupt character…

There was a lot of Australian slang, cursing and general vernacular but Antony Ferguson kept making at least one of the expressions (God damn it) sound American. It really stuck out almost as though he’d re-recorded all those expressions after the rest of the book was complete.

I picked this book up because Joel Leslie is one of my favourite narrators but even he let the ball drop a few times on this one.

It took me forever to pick up that Easton is of Middle East descent. And while Melbourne, Sydney and Ballarat all get specified, Easton has to go to Queensland to see his father, Parker goes to Queensland to rescue him, they come back from Queensland… ??? Has Lila Rose never been north of the border? There a towns, districts and shires she could pick off a map.

This book is clearly part of a large series set around a motorcycle club, all of whom are unprejudiced and very accepting of all races and sexual preferences yet they are vigilantes who deal out their own justice much like as seen in Sons of Anarchy. Overly dramatic, wildly inappropriate and still completely unrealistic.

I gave up with about 40 minutes left.
