This series just keeps getting better. Really loved the first book. Like this one even better. I see that some are annoyed by the flashbacks to Syria but I actually preferred those parts to the “Present Day”. In this book we really have two stories running simultaneously that both lead to the conclusion of the book. I really enjoyed hearing about some of the war events that helped shape, or at least show, who Marcus Battle is. We can see in his actions what he is made of. The kind of person he has proven to be.

As Usual Kevin Pierce is the voice of the Apocalypse. Now he is the voice of Battle. There could be no other voice for this series.

I do have one issue with this book. In book one we meet Battle and his “Home”. That book is appropriately titled. This book is called “Canyon”. Why? At the end of the book we are headed for a canyon but we never get there in this book. There is no canyon in this book. Even the cover art shows someone standing looking over a canyon. Nice picture but has nothing to do with this book.

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
