The series was born from the pain of loss from a great TV show and overall it does an admirable job of filling those shoes. Though there are parallels between the characters in the book and the TV show, it’s not intended to be a 1-for-1 match, and the introduction of magic also changes the universe quite a bit. But overall, the mix of characters and the adventures they share are very much in the same vein. A long, but rewarding listen for anyone that’s a fan of comedy sci-fi or who enjoys the “smuggler with a heart of gold” character (a la Han Solo).
