This book has three main characters – Nadine Costa, a high end escort who works the job to finance her real passion as a perfumer, Rome Foster, an environmentally conscious app developer looking to get investors in her namesake city to make her dream a reality, and the city of Rome itself. And I absolutely loved all three! If traveling there wasn’t already high on my bucket list, it would certainly go straight to the top after listening to this. (You deserve some tourism promotion compensation from them, Lise Gold!)
What a breath of fresh air this book was! A well developed, fleshed out story that didn’t cut corners, MCs that have strong, healthy communication and sizzling chemistry, people that step up and do the right thing, characters that don’t self sabotage, great supporting characters and messages that have social significance. And soooo very romantic. All while making you feel like you’re seeing the sights, (not just touristy ones, either), tasting the food and meeting the locals in one of the most amazing cities in the world. What more could you want? And in the very capable voice of narrator TJ Richards, this was a completely enchanting experience. I especially love what she did with Rome’s voice. I heard Nadine’s differently in my head. Not that TJ didn’t do an excellent job, because she did. I just imagined her voice being a bit more sultry. So that I can entertain that fantasy – and because it’s a great book with a gorgeous cover – I must have this in print as well.
So often I find myself craving something exactly like this – a book that you can relax and immerse yourself in that just makes you feel good. And here it is! Definitely recommend.
