I have enjoyed this series a lot so far. This book felt a bit like it was just filler, waiting for the 9th floor fun to start. While better than a filler book before, I defiantly didn’t love this one. The addition of the card game felt either forced or desperate, and just wasn’t very good. The high point was the politics of the factions talking about what will happen on the 9th floor, but the day to day of what Carl and Doughnut were doing was pretty weak. I’m looking forward to the next book, but I’m also worried that Dinniman is running out of ideas and the book after that will be really boring.

Still worth it to get to book 7 I think. We will see.
