Lee was living a nice quiet, unassuming life, unfortunately for him he happened to have a drunken god on his family tree who sucked him into the war of the gods. So begins Charles Dean’s wonderful War Aeternus: The Beginning, the first volume in a new LitRPG series. Dean does a great job of hitting the tropes of the genre (quests, leveling, stat point distribution) while adding his own special twist. Definitely a series I’ll continue to follow.
Let me say that I have the ebook and was reading it before starting this audio. As enjoyable as reading it was, listening to Jeff Hays’ performance elevated my enjoyment exponentially. I absolutely loved his over the top pseudo-Schwarzenegger take on the wannabe paladin character Miller. Seriously, Jeff’s unique vocal work elevates every book he performs.
