I’m not sure if it was just me or the writing, but it took me a little while to really get hooked with this book. However, I am so glad I kept listening, because I really ended up liking it. The story was sweet with lots of feels. The characters were interesting and likable, and there was just enough drama to keep me interested without being overly angsty.
I really liked Reed and Charlie. They were both fun characters with friends that added humor and gave them the nudges they needed. They both had past experiences that shaped their relationship, but the connection they shared couldn’t be denied. I liked that neither of them were over the top, but rather they both seemed real. Reed was a total sweetheart! I loved that he knew a good thing when he saw it. And while Charlie had been through a lot, I loved that she still managed to put herself out there with a bit of encouragement.
The narration was also really well done. Sarah Puckett and Steve Campbell are both fairly new narrators for me, but they both did a great job and fit these characters well. If you are looking for a good accent, you will enjoy Mr. Campbell. Overall, this was an enjoyable listen, and I will check out both the author and narrators again in the future.
