This is the latest installment book 4 of the excellent Dark Destruction series. This latest book didn’t disappoint.
What makes this series different it is not centered around a ex Navy Seal and his hidden fortress in the wilderness thats manly an armory to fight off the bad guys.
This book we find the survivors struggling to just survive. Food, in fighting are all taking their toll of the electric "family" that is comprised of people that banded together to improve their chances of survival.
There is not a single very strong leader. That at times causes issues and group dynamics are tested with grief, bad guys and frustration all under a cloud of despair. I was left thinking of a verse from a song I heard done by Brett Dennen Where is hope for the hopeless? Thats enough of a tease, I don’t want to ruin it for the listener
The narration is good. It is not a easy book to narrate I suspect , as the group of characters is large, both sexes and ages. Its a job well done and I could "know" the characters by inflection.
If you like a book and series that touches upon apocalyptic , but really only acts as a back drop for a "how would modern peoples adapt if they were thrust into the 19th century?
Try the series ; I think you will like it
I was given this book by the author to review. The opinions are my own and honest thoughts and feelings upon listening
