Posing as college roommates and sharing in practical jokes, Prince Ryden and his new bodyguard Ajax are soon unable to deny the mutual attraction sparking between them. Both are caught off guard when what begins as a steamy secret fling quickly deepens to more, and the closeted prince must choose between love and royal expectation.
While I enjoyed this audio book well enough overall, I didn’t really connect with either MC. Ryden’s immaturity is no surprise, but I didn’t expect it from Ajax. Despite being older and having more experience, the bodyguard basically throws professional restraint aside, dives headfirst into a secret relationship, and is then jealous/hurt when Ryden’s royal duties come first.
Narrator Austin Jay does a good job, but without much character voice difference. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Ryden’s Cosandrian accent, which comes and goes in accord with the story. I received this free review copy audio book by request and have left this honest review voluntarily.
