Did you love the Firefly TV Series? Ever wish that someone would write a book series in the same vein? Then this audiobook is for you!
This series is the opposite of epic. Like Firefly, it follows a crew of misfits who travel through border space, getting into various messes and scraping by. None of their jobs ever go according to plan, but somehow they always muddle through with just enough cash to keep fuel rods in engine and beer in the fridge. I found to refreshing to read a science fiction book in which the protagonists weren’t mastermind planners or unstoppable fighters but instead very believably human and flawed in entertaining ways.
I was initially wary of this audiobook because one credit for 80+ hours of content seemed too good to be true. But it is actually much better than many of the shorter scifi titles on audible, the writing is solid and the narration is excellent and really brings the characters to life. I’d still say it was worth a credit it if the book was 12 or 14 hours long, so for 80 hours its a no brainer. As others have pointed in their reviews, even if you stop after 20 or 40 hours you’ll still have gotten your money’s worth!
