The Fall Girl is a thoroughly engaging and enjoyable story! I loved JJ and Claire’s story in The Miracle Girl and was thrilled to see it continue in The Fall Girl.
T.B. Markinson has the ability to create interesting characters that are often flawed, sometimes quirky, but always likable. Markinson thoughtfully develops complex characters that often struggle with their inner demons and perceived shortcomings. She fleshes them out in such a way that you care about them. Their journey is one that always yields a rich dimension to the plot.
Such is the case with JJ in The Fall Girl. The story picks up where The Miracle Girl left off; JJ finally has her life together. She has just reunited with the only woman she has ever truly loved and she is ready to build a life with her. For the first time in a long time, JJ feels like her life has purpose and direction. With Claire by her side, she feels like her world is her oyster.
However, just when JJ thinks her life couldn’t get any better, it takes an unexpected turn. She finds herself involved in an investigation of a serial killer from the deep dark web. The situation becomes increasingly complicated as JJ begins to rely on an unscrupulous woman from her past to uncover this cyber sociopath. Her involvement in this internet manhunt begins to threaten her newly ordered world and all that she loves.
The Fall Girl, at its heart, is a love story. However, the plot twists and turns keep you guessing until the end, making the read an adventure. The conclusion will ultimately leave you longing for another installment to JJ and Claire’s story.
