i picked this up without much research looking for a hard scifi read when magic showed up i was disappointed but stuck to it because the characters were vivid enough that i wanted to see how it turned out. What i found was a well put together series of stories that grew along with the characters and delivered a fun ride through a series of stories that hold together as a satisfying whole.
