This book will resonate with those who believe that our use of fossil fuels is causing serious damage to our planet and threatens our future. On the other hand, it will be rejected by people who do not accept those views. It certainly is not something which will appeal to a person looking for an action adventure cast in the future with a conclusion that ties up all of the loose ends. Also, there are a good number of chapters which could have been omitted without affecting the overall plot.

The narrators have a variety of accents, some of which will be harder for some audiences to understand than others. Certainly, some of the pronunciations of words are not what I am accustomed to. One of many examples would be the pronunciation of (Johann Sebastian) Bach’s name sounding like “back.”

Overall, though, it is a very thought-provoking book for those who are worried about the future of our planet. The approaches to the problems which are presented in the book are interesting, and the author seems to have done a lot of research into the challenges these approaches would present. As I write this in August 2023, last month has been declared the hottest month on record, and there have been climatic events such as a devastating wildfire on Maui which are far beyond what is normally experienced.
