So I’ll give this a 3.5 story and a nod as a promising start. I like the premise, especially the hints and bits of story it seems are taking shape. It will be interesting to see how the main character solves his assorted moral quandaries. BUT.. I knocked 1-1.5 stars off as I think this could be TONS better if it were paced out differently. It drags in several places (for instance it takes 4 hours or so before it really starts to get out of what I would consider the prologue).

The narration itself is decent but neither is it the best I’ve heard between 3-4 varying throughout. If the narrator had done some of the flourishes he did in a couple portions of the story with one of the characters throughout it would I think be closer to a 4.25-4.75 for narration.

Overall about a 3.75 or so rounded to 4. Looking forward to the next book.
