This is a fairly zombie-free post apocalypse. They do sort of make an appearance, but don’t figure into the story much. There are a lot of other critters, mutants, cars and monsters. The variety of characters and sprawling story telling was a bit disjointed as it seemed there was too much going on. I had a hard time both following the story and caring a lot about the many characters.
The archetype theme seemed to fall flat. It wasn’t strong enough to make it really work. Either go all in on it or stay away.
The book was well narrated by Phil Thron and the multiple characters were handled well.
I was given this free audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
