Breaking the Beast is a fast-paced thriller, featuring a great set of characters, some wild action, and an interesting story that puts a unique twist on the post apocalyptic genre. I really wish this book was longer or more accurately I wish this is book 2. This book starts with the world already in tatters and gives us an info dump on how it got that way. I have to say I was instantly fascinated with the ideas presented in that info dump and would have loved to have seen an entire book allowing us to witness society begin to crumble and to slowly have us learn what was behind the deadly virus that swept over the world. Alas, that we didn’t get that, but what we do get is an action packed adventure as Joe Branch sets out to prove that one man can make a difference.
As always, Kevin Pierce’s narration is spot on, pulling us into the story and bringing the adventure to life.
