I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This was a slow burn for the first few chapters as you get to know the main character and his community. After finishing the book, I understand why the author did this, but would have liked a little more umph in the first 3rd of the book to wet my appetite for the rest of the book. Now, once stuff starts to happen, the books is WAY more exciting. Having the background did make me care more for the characters. That said, I felt like the book ends a bit too early. Oh, and Kevin Pierce is a fantastic narrator and I’d pretty much listen to him read anything. So, there is little doubt that I’ll listen to volume 2.
