- What did you love best about War Aeternus: The Beginning?
- I loved the characters. I loved how the reader Jeff Hays played out the characters, their voices, and how the Soundbooth Theater added dimension to the environment. I love how this story is kind of like what would really happen if a real nerd was pulled in to another world and told to be a priest – or else.
- What other book might you compare War Aeternus: The Beginning to and why?
- Not sure I could compare this to another book as this was a very unique take on the “litRPG” genre. This would really be like what would happen if a greek god grabbed a modern day brain-dead nerd in to a different realm that is ran by a creator god like an RPG, and then told to be that greek god’s priest and raise followers. There’s alot of funny moments and hilarious jabs at current culture.
- What does Jeff Hays Soundbooth Theater bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
- I love how the audio goes echo-y when the MC does the inner monologue as it differentiates the difference in where the communication is. I also like how when more than one person talks at a time that they actually have multiple voices. Jeff Hays does a real great job adding alot of characteristics to the various voices. I found the character of MILLER to be really entertaining in his over-the-top revelry and blood-lust “FOR JUSTICE!!!” LOL
- Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
- When the god Augustus first pulled the MC into the Aerternus world and placed him in to a fight with Zombie Priest Brian, and then threatened him with Zombie Bunnies – think Monty Python.
- Any additional comments?
- I am really hoping that this is the start to a series. I look forward to hearing how the MC continues to grow and increase his followers while also trying to not be seen as a god himself, and then not have that come crashing down all around him. As with many in this genre, there is no harem in this book. He does have his interest in 2 girls, but like any young man who gets some attention, he doesn’t know where to settle yet. I don’t recall any curse words and very limited amount of violence.
I found this book refreshing, entertaining, and fun to listen to. I look forward to more from this series and this author.
