Light-hearted is perhaps a bit overstated … but it’s certainly not doom and gloom in this apocalypse! The MC is funny and endearing from the start. For the reader, at least. And his adventures pull his fate together with many others trying to escape the evil side of the post-apocalyptic world. He does his best, with Chewy by his side, and it makes for a fun adventure that was good enough for me to buy the subsequent novels.
