I’ve never left a book review before, but I’ve also not been blindsided by a book summary that is so obviously (intentionally?) inaccurate. This is not a love story or a hard-won relationship, it’s the sad story of a sexually abused girl told from the perspective of a pedophile.

Alot of the reviews that are positive are 5+ years old, and although that doesn’t seem that long ago A LOT has changed in our culture and this book does not age well. It is a romanticized grooming if a small girl, and could very well be used as a reference for the glamourization of pedophilia.

It is about a man who imbeds himself in the life of a little girl in a struggling home situation. Instead of helping her, he decides to helps himself by creating a level of control guised as caring father figure which then turns sexual.

I had to Google the author as I was concerned I was reading the works of a known pedophile. Upon finding out they are a women I felt a deep sadness thinking that maybe this was first hand experience, and disgust for anyone who allowed her to believe that what she had experienced was “love”.
