Without question, I was sucked into the story from the very first moment. I’m a fan of this genre, and I will admit that in the first book the performer took some getting used to. However, as the story goes on and Jason becomes more defined in his role, the performers voice choice for him seems to fit more and more. The only issue I have is the re-use of the same phrases, like the phrase “tortured scream,“ or the phrase “tamp down on,“ or many others. The phrase is themselves don’t really bother me, but the fact that I am aware that this is the umpteenth time I’ve heard that phrase as the book goes on kind of grates on me a bit.
Other than this nitpick, I don’t have any complaints about this book. In fact I highly recommend it. The story is awesome, the characters are relatable and they show very obvious growth, and the world is interesting and unpredictable.
