The narration is clear and smooth, the tone and Pace match the feel of the book. The character voices are clear consistent and recognisable.
I’ve read a lot of apocalyptic and post apocalyptic in the last year and this is one of the best. It starts about 2 years after the apocalyptic event so it doesn’t deal with the immediate aftermath except in flashbacks. Instead it deals with survivors have had to do many things they would never have previously considered in order to survive.
It came across as realistic, even probable. I enjoyed the style of writing, it was very easy to read and also emotionally compelling.
The characters are well written and come alive on the page. The motivations are ones you can relate to, even when you don’t agree with them. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.
