There’s a great amount of progress made in just about every aspect of this story, except for the story itself. Internal feelings are brought to light, trials and challenges bring about some of the biggest rewards this series has produced, and there is nonstop tower diving.
All of this would have been excellent if it didn’t come at the expense of the entire plot grinding to a halt. While the narration was excellent, and the characters were enjoyable as always, this entire book consisted of a handful of floors and a new town, period.
This has been an entertaining series, but this book has now enacted a “wait and see” approach that will probably have me waiting until the series is completed before considering coming back to it.
