What I enjoyed most about this book, is its simplicity. I don’t mean in the way or style it was written, but in the way the story just unfolds and lays itself out to you.
Jason Burke unwittingly finds himself stowed away on a spaceship and gets embroiled into interstellar chaos. There’s no complexity to how this happens, we just accept it and it works superbly.
I also like the simplicity of the alien races that Jason meets. There are very few over the top species, and the method in which everybody can communicate is done well allowing the author to focus on a story based that pits Jason’s desire to return home against his strong morals of addressing right and wrong.
Each of the primary characters are fun and well crafted. There is a great blend of action, escapism, and humor. The book is well narrated and produced.
I am certainly looking forward to book two.
