This story starts off a bit on the slower side given how the previous one ended, however the author takes it and uses it as an opportunity to reveal some pretty critical world building/lore. This really helps push with the protagonist’s character building and reaffirms his motivations.

Once that phase ends the story picks up rather quickly, and the plot evolves enough where it honestly could have been a separate book, but saving on the credit and getting a 2-for-1 is fine by me. There are a few key points that are a bit predictable, but still rather enjoyable and it doesn’t detract from the overall story.

The narrators really outdid themselves and you can tell they put alot of effort into the voices and the edits for the sound effects. That being said, all of those same effects added alot of white noise, and this made it harder to understand all of what was being said at times. I imagine this isn’t as much of an issue at normal speed or even just above, but at the higher listening speeds I did have to rewind a few times or slow it down. Still, I was quite impressed with the quality and hats off to everyone who helped make it happen, can’t wait for the next book!
