As a political scientist, I recommend that you plow through Bueno de Mesquita and Smith’s «A Dictator’s Handbook» before you start listening to this book. The selectorate theory presented in the handbook is not something that you absolutely need to know about, but it helps you understand the mechanisms Putin has applied in order to rise and to keep power.
