Long enough. The first book was good. This one is better. Lauren, Lauren’s memories of dad, Lauren’s mom, Christian, and John move the story along. One of the best parts, destructive, but sort of funny in a warped sort of way is where Lauren and neighbor girlfriend end up doing a typically harmless patrol together. Against their better judgement and without authorization they deviate from the program for just a bit to get some intel out of an unsecured area. Poop hits the fan, and bodies pile up, but the girls are mostly unscathed. A worried and furious mom finds Lauren in the midst of two overturned vehicles and a burning one with dead bodies all around. “Who are you, that you allow yourself to get into these kinds of messes??? You had to be bailed out weeks ago. You got lucky this time. You are going to get yourself killed!” “You are mom.” she proclaims. “It’s funny you should ask that because I ask myself all the time… Who am I???…” Feel sorry for Sasha who was stolen from her home at around 13 and thought to be dead after a few weeks.
