It’s a good selection, provided by the “dream team” of Jack Olsen’s writing and research, with Kevin Pierce’s narration. The book describes the life of George Russell Jr., including his narcissism and manipulation of others, and the criminal behavior, such as his frequent nighttime house “cat burglaries” as a way to support himself. I was also taken aback by his irresponsible interest in teenage girls. He dated a 14 year old girl, who unexpectedly became pregnant and had an abortion.
We hear about his misogynistic ways, which combined with uncontrollable rage, led to the repugnant, unspeakable acts against his victims. I have to ding the book as I expected to hear more about the lives of the victims. The writing didn’t exactly live up to the title of the book in that regard. Overall, though, I’d recommend it.
