If you liked the Firefly series, you’re going to like this, and can probably stop reading at this point.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s a quick breakdown on what to expect:

* Faster-than-light travel from _magic_
* Oh yeah, Space Wizards
* Space Wizards mucking up the laws of physics leading to all kinds of horrible disasters and occasional gallows humor
* Space smugglers as a crew, premise/background
* Non-human sentient interactions both amicable and not, as well as a few non-human Point of View characters
* One questionably human character — I’m not even going to try to explain that one
* A lot of simple little episodic stories that are generally fun to listen to
* Great narration for most of the characters

I won’t say this is some amazing piece of literature, because it isn’t. But it is good, it is fun, and the narration kicks butt. I also really enjoyed the Wizards vs Tech dynamic, which was one of the few unique features of actual functional interest to this world’s setting, as it constantly affected the plot.

I wouldn’t suggest this to my friends as a blind recommendation, but if you enjoy the softer side of sci-fi you’ll probably eat this right up.
