It’s hard to tell if this is about the end of the world… there is definitely an apocalypse in the background. A mysterious one. But really, it seems to be more about the characters having contentious relationships and gangs, drug lords and crime. I figure 95% of it could happen pretty much anytime… although maybe not at once.
It’s also very much a first installment. The mysteries, relationships, and even the central theme (a road trip) are all to be continued… something I’ve come to hate about sci-fi these days.
