Sheena Jolie /Himes is an excellent writer. The entire series is well-plotted, filled with action, and with vivid characters. She has a different take on magic, vampires, and sorcerers, which feels very organic snd plausible, within the alternate Boston in which the action takes place. I’ve read all the books, and listened to the audio books (more than once!). Joel Leslie’s performance is utterly superb. He imbues Angel and Simeon (a sorcerer and his vampire lover) with a relationship that feels complex and real. There is a good bit of snark and humor that add so much to the story overall. And can I just say how much I adore the “wee beastie” and his daffodil yellow eyes? Can’t wait for the next books in the series, and the next audio books.
