a good start to a series. the entire book throws out plot hook after plot hook laying the foundation for a long storyline with multiple major arcs along the way. it also takes the Martin approach to world setting in that almost everyone is easy to hate. the MC is decent but flips back and forth between useful paranoia, hot blooded idiocy, and naivete that allows others to treat him like a doormat.
I’ll read the next book just because I need freaking answers to so much and because the enemy in this story deserves whatever bad thing could possibly happen to them in the sequal.
Jeff Hays does an amazing job as always.
