This starts out like most prepper crisis books, however you quickly realize the crisis is different. Due to prior experience the main character knows what to do and is mostly ready. There are a few moments of disconnect when he leaves his cell phone behind as well as other items. Things quickly spiral out of control and with a series of bad choices the situation becomes worse. The main character is overly reckless at several points and puts himself in danger and eventual capture. The initial crises resolves eventually in a bloody confrontation, but they realize there is a bigger problem in progress. This sets up the coming sequel.
Over all the book is good, with effective use of flashbacks to understand the main character’s mindset.
Kevin Pierce is good as always and effectively narrates a variety of characters and scenes.
