The story started out ok as a story but soon I felt like I was affected by a slow acting poison as it progressed. It was even more monotonous than Ben Stein taking roll call in class saying “Bueller.. Bueller.. Bueller..” for several hours straight. I’m afraid I actually fell asleep a few times while listening to it.

Now then after a few hours of this, it started to pick up, it was like someone gave me a slight healing potion to slowly remove the poison and soon I was avidly listening to the story. Holy sh!t it’s like I couldn’t get enough of the story after that. I can say this isn’t a spoiler letting you know around when it picked up for me. I would say around the middle to late half of the pirate quest then the story started to come alive. Sadly jumping straight to the pirate quest isnt advised, you truly have to listen to a lot of the beginning to get a firm background story. Sorry but in the end it was worth it.. just barely.

In conclusion I will say it was a good story but the author nearly kills the readers with the slow poison of monotony. The ” I have history in the game” part, seems to be there to set the stage for the rest of the book which was awesome. If there is a book 2, I most likely will get it.
