I’m strictly a sci-fi listener and this is probably one of the best bang for the buck book series I’ve heard. I listen at night after going to bed and this 84 hour plus series kept me entertained for 3 months. I was a big Firefly fan, and like many, had wished the series had continued. This gem of a story exceeded all my expectations in picking up on a similar story line. Like Firefly, it casts a rag tag crew of space jockeys that are always in and out of trouble as they venture through the galaxy. I’ll admit I was a bit leery when I read the preview that talked about wizards and magic. I couldn’t imagine that combination being mixed in with a sci-fi space theme. But boy was I wrong. The wizard was one of the best characters in the book series. The magic he performed along with other wizards in the books added a unique dynamic to the story line. But what made the book series the best was the great narration by Mikael Naramore. His wide range of voice characterizations was superb. He captured each of the character’s personalities and acted them out perfectly. His reading style was never boring and he always kept your attention. I’m glad that I stuck it out until the end. It was worth every hour of it. My next 20-hour book will seem like a short story after listening to this marathon. If you like sci-fi, I highly recommend the listen.
