The book had great action scenes, accompanied by lots of neato sound effects. The metastory was interestingish. And it had a few outright hilarious moments.

Most of the book however focused on the gameplay, mechanical dynamics and other typical litrpg stuff.

Which was absolutely dreadfully boring. The mechanics were dull, rather dumb and served as an easy button more than anything. The story directly involving the game was unengaging. And to make matters worse the end showed an example of a potentially more interesting litrpg. One with a level 1 character trying to make their way through a world that doesnt bend itself backwards to give the character everything they could possibly want.

But the series promises future books wont focus on that, but instead focus on the one player who kept all his advantages. *sigh*
