The story line has a lot of potential. The characters made a lot of mistakes in the beginning, but that is more realistic than a lot of post apocalyptic novels where everyone is a weapons and tactical savant. As stated in other reviews, the narrator plays the kids voices as very whiney and the dad isn’t very likable. I’m about 1/2 way thru the 3rd book and losing patience and interest. It has been almost a year now and the characters are still doing really stupid things (spoilers), like leaving food behind because there isn’t room in the wagon for EVERYONE to ride. Shouldn’t the young and healthy be walking at least part of the time. And then there is leaving valuable cattle to wander behind the group and they’re surprised when they wander off! I think the author should have done more research on livestock farming before writing a novel about it. I’ve reached a point where I really don’t care any more and may not continue…
