Dont worry about the last 20 mins of Book 1, which describes the thoughts of the young Emperor Einheart & politics. Although that has relevant clues, Book 2 is still about our favorite square (hero/monster) mimic…. and well worth the $ or credit.
My other comments are same as others’ feedback: great narration, interesting & progessing story, etc.
