I couldn’t really tell you how good the story is because I couldn’t get past the horrible narration. I found it insanely irritating. The narrator speaks with some weird kind of affectation, like he’s trying to emulate Rod Serling. His voice, already fairly low pitched, drops at the end of each sentence to become extremely hard to hear. The only time this doesn’t happen is when he is speaking in character. And as for the characters, I could not connect with the protagonist at all. There was nothing about him that was interesting, not even his weird domestic arrangement. I found this book so irritating to read that I couldn’t get through more than the first couple of hours. Not anywhere as good as the previous book I’d read by this author.
