A lot of reviews on here say that the narration by Hays saved this book for them, but it did not for me. At the start of the book the audio levels are atrocious, making it nearly impossible to listen to.(constantly had to adjust the volume up and down so i could hear/ so i wouldn’t be deafened.) Jeff hays is excellent, however the main character is a shallow unlikable person that seems more like a White Knight’s wish fulfillment than anything else. About every other sentence MC Runner says something that makes me cringe.

I stuck it out to the end to see if something might change or hook me.(flawed or shallow MC’s are not inherently wrong as long as its part of the story or design) Nothing really made me want to listen to the next book and i really only finished this one because i enjoy listening to the Narrator. I have listened to a lot of LITRPG style books, but this was the first one that made me drop the series instead of finishing the whole thing.
