I don’t often enjoy LBGTQ romances. A lot of times the romance is under or over written. This was exaggerated, yes, but it fit with the supernatural trope of “we were destined to be together” so some of the “I love you instantly” was more acceptable. That’s not to say that the human didn’t get to have his freak outs and question the craziness. And those moments were real enough given the minimal back story you have for him. And more importantly the characters themselves felt realistic. Most gay guys don’t walk to work or church or the club thinking “I’m doing XYZ because I like guys.” No, they go to work or church or the club thinking stuff about what they are going to be doing at wherever it is they’re going. This story was romantic and erotic between 2 people who happened to be gay, the author didn’t ram it down our throats as if they needed to make a statement. Our two heros save the world and have great sex. Fluffy paranormal romance at it’s best, with just enough bite not to be sickening…this time i didn’t actually mean the pun…
