From the day they met Taylor has been challenging Saber in every way, great and small, whether he needs it or not. And in those early days he rises to the challenge, proving himself her equal… but when life knocks him down, it takes one back of a wake up call to help him see there is more than one way to be strong enough for, or worthy of, the one you love.

The first half dozen chapters felt slow, having just listened to the previous three books in the past few days, in part because they were offering a different perspective on a timeline I was already familiar with. I can’t help but wonder if that section feels more engaging if there’s been more time between books.

I continue to enjoy the world building, and characters, though so much happens that inevitably I feel threads are dropped, and I find myself wondering if they will be picked up in another story.

The male narrator does a good job overall, his voices work for me… I’ve found myself enjoying the gruff guys more than I expected.
