This is definitely one of the best true crime books I’ve ever read. Jack Olsen does an incredible job relating the facts with descriptors & detail but without interjecting his own bias or pop-psychology. I love how entire chapters are the words of a person that was somehow related to the crime. The narrator was incredible at changing his tone or cadence to portray the person whose words he was reading.
The story of Art Shawcross was unbelievable. I appreciate how Olsen sticks to facts and makes Shawcross neither sympathetic nor inhuman. The last several chapters involving the psychological study from the perspective of the psychologist were really fascinating. Highly recommend this book.
