I’m going to start by overlooking the main plot problems, aka the fact that this is a book about a harem. That’s what it is so complaining about that is silly. No, the problems come with how the story is told. The narrative jumps from one problem to the next and each problem gets neatly wrapped up without any conflict. It leads to the story just detailing how the main character fixes things rather than experiencing him actually dealing with the problem like a human would. There were some exceptions, some moments where some character development started showing up and that was exciting… But that leads me to the other big issue… The story would constantly end chapters right when something interesting was happening and never come back to it or address it again. For example, in one of the power fantasies Felix is confronting a snotty school principal. Felix puts the principal in his place but we never get to read what the principals reaction was! No payoff at all.
So I’ll sum up how I started… This could have been so much better.
