William Arand does a fantastic job narrating this book. This book showed up on my Amazon ‘you might like’ list because I have been reading Aleron Kong’s ‘The Land’ series and I thought I would give it a try. It was written for the 30 something male who is still living in his parent’s basement and who plays video games all day and has no real relationships. It is kind of a mix up of X-Men and the Incredibles with almost exclusively gorgeous women heroes (even though they are all slaves to the below average male protagonist – Felix). There is a ton of cartoonish violence, including villains being ground into sausage links, but no real resolution given for the conflict between ‘Legion’ (Felix’s organization) and whatever group is attacking them. As a matter of fact, I don’t think we ever find out who the opposition is by the end of the book. The appeal? What below average male wouldn’t like to be surrounded by a dozen or gorgeous, doting, dedicated, super-women? Hence, the audience it was written for. The really sad part? I will be reading the next book in the series to see if there is any more explanation as to why his organization keeps getting attacked. Luckily, it is a fast read.
