This book is a great start to a very unique YA/teen series. There is a touch of paranormal but not much. There is also a bit of romance. Cara and her best friend Riley have gone through a lot! They have such horrible luck and when things seems to be looking up they actually get even worse.
The narration was well done and brought the story to life.
I like the fact that the main characters are young but not immature for their age. They actually seem pretty smart trying to work with all the curve balls that life has thrown at them. They have been dealt a bad hand but they try to figure out how to land on their feet.
I really enjoyed the unique story even though it concluded in a cliffhanger. I’m looking forward to reading/listening to the next book to see how they will get out of their situation. Hopefully, Theo will do his best to help them.
