While a lot of Mr Horton’s facts are correct, his description of ham radio use is more science fiction. For example, the range of a baofeng HT without a repeater is only about 15 miles. Repeaters greatly increase range, but these are not HF capable, the lower frequencies that allow for great distances. In addition Jim is very violent in this book and is worse than takes no prisoners.
