I’ve read Goodwins books before including the days of Noah and Elijah. Goodwin was able to thread the the right amount of Christian preaching with the nature of the story.
In the seven cows story line he went way over the top in the first two books. The character Steve was about annoying as a Christian character could possibly be and it was a complete turn off. Goodwin, perhaps seeing the reviews about it being too preachy, fortunately reduced the preachy tones in books 3&4.
