Blackout: Still Surviving, Volume 1 written by Boyd Craven III and narrated by Kevin Pierce is simply an amazing audiobook. The author is well known in the Post Apocalyptic Fiction genre but has expanded and humanized the genre by adding real characters. The readers and listeners get to learn about have time to emotionally invest in the storyline and the charters lives and struggles before the event. These are not super rich prepper’s just average people. Struggling to survive day to day.

The main character is Wesley Flagg a moonshiner, Grandson, and College Educated hopefully soon to be employed as a teacher. For him prepping was a way of life being raised by his grandparents. Raider is a stray dog that claims him and leads him to an old his school friend named Jessica who works at the local chain Pet store and offers obedience training. This book is filled with plenty of backstories but it is not without a purpose. Once the event happens there will be guns and action for all the action junkies do not worry.

Also if you get to the end and are all like”What the heck dude” go back and look at the title. Go on I will give you a minute and a clue (Volume 1). There is more to the story.

Narration

The narration by Kevin Pierce was just incredible. Mr. Pierce can quickly get you invested in the story and the characters. The audience is along for the journey with characters and most loving every minute of it. The production quality of this audiobook is also topnotch. I heard no problems with it all. I recommend giving this title a listen if you are a fan of Kevin Pierce, Survival Fiction, or Post Apocalyptic Fiction. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
