I wanted to like this book—was excited to begin a series by an author who was new to me. Big disappointment. The narrative dragged throughout and I found it difficult to maintain my interest. The narrator was infuriating. He read in fits and starts. It was like listening to bursts of a machine gun—pauses and then the words came so quickly they were difficult to take in.
